Yuan Qin Master “La Cathedrale” Vintage Violin
Stradivari’s 1707 “La Cathedrale” was named according to the Associated Press, for the “majesty of its tone”. Nigel Kennedy played this violin early in his career. In 2002, it was played by Tamaki Kawakubo, who won the International Tchaikovsky Competition that year. When it was auctioned by Sotheby’s in 1984, it fetched a record $483,000 from buyer Michel Scheinin.
