For more than three decades The Sassmannshaus Tradition has been one of the leading methods for children in German-speaking countries. In fact, more than half a million players have successfully learned to play the violin, viola, or cello using this method. The Sassmannshaus Tradition is now available in English and has been adapted, both in content and songs, for today’s English-speaking children.

- Large print notes and texts as well as many colorful illustrations are ideal for pre-school as well as school children.
- Note reading is emphasized from the first lesson, encouraging ensemble playing from the very beginning.
- Songs and scales in different positions are easily mastered within the first year of playing to ensure the children are not confined to first position playing.
- Advanced techniques such as varied bow strokes and shifting are introduced in a basic form.

My husband and I have a studio with 70+ kids. We teach violin, viola and cello, and Sassmannshaus is the best method series on the market. The notes are large and crisp, and there’s a lot of reinforcement of concepts with fresh tunes so that the kids don’t get bored like they do with Suzuki. The Suzuki books suck all the joy out of music, ahaha.
