Pirastro Chorda Cello Strings
The Pirastro Chorda cello strings are authentic strings for baroque instruments. They produce a brilliant, yet soft sound. In the standard set, the A and D strings are composed of plain sheep gut, while the G and C strings are wound with a silver-plated copper wire and are unpolished. The Chorda strings have a very low string tension. They are designed for 440 Hz tuning. For 415 Hz, use the stronger gauge. Altering the PM gauge by 1/2 PM changes the tension by 4%.
The tailpiece end of the A and D are straight and do not come with a tie knot, the G and C have a tie knot.
Standard medium set contains:
A- Plain gut (21g)
D- Plain gut (29g)
G- Silver-plated copper wire over gut (27 1/2g)
C- Silver-plated copper wire over gut (36g)
