Dario Vettori Violin
Deeply rooted in family tradition, Dario Vettori II is the eldest son of Paolo and the grandson of Dario I, who is known as "il liutaio della montagna". An accomplished maker, Dario II entered his father's workshop full-time at the age of eighteen and enrolled with the Associazione Liutaria Italiana Professionisti in 2001. He uses moulds and models from the Vettori family workshop, which are inspired after the great old masters, including Antonio Stradivari and Guarneri "del Gesu".
- Violin Information: Violin, Florence, 2008 - This fine violin made by Dario Vettori II is made on a pattern by Camillo Camilli. Its tone is warm and round with a certain maturity that belies its age. The top is of two-piece Italian spruce from the Val di Fiemme region and has a medium grain throughout. The back is of two-piece Bosnian maple with strong flame, slightly descending towards the edges. Ribs and head are similar to the back. The violin is varnished using a Bisiach/Stefanini formula used by the Vettori family and is of a red-brown color on a yellow ground. LOB 355 mm.
