The "Rocca" is based on a violin made in 1854 by Guiseppe Rocca during what is considered to be his finest period of instrument making. The Scott Cao "Rocca" is a presentation of superior workmanship and detail, resulting in a full, penetrating tone.
Hand-carved by experienced luthiers from beautifully figured and aged tone-woods. Spruce top of narrow grain. Two piece maple back of a relatively medium flame ascending toward the bouts. Ribs of a tighter flame, scroll similar. Finished in an oil varnish of a red-brown on a golden ground and antiqued in the style of the original violin. Outfits include #VACR7 Kaplan rosin. Made in China.
