The Scott Cao "Da Salo" is based on a viola made in 1588 by Gasparo "Da Salo". Gasparo Da Salo is regarded as the father of the modern violin. The Scott Cao "Da Salo" features a beautifully antiqued finish and double purfling that is accompanied by a unique inlaid ornamentation on the back. The Scott Cao "Da Salo" is hand-carved from European tone-woods. Spruce top of medium grain. Double purfling. Two-piece maple back, nicely flamed. Double purfled artistic inlay design on back. Ribs and scroll plain. Finished in an oil varnish of a golden brown color on a golden ground and antiqued in the style of the original violin. Outfit includes rosin: Your choice of case and bow. Made in China.
