The Scott Cao "Da Salo" is based on a viola made in 1588 by Gasparo "Da Salo", who is regarded as the father of the modern violin and the other instruments of the violin family. The Scott Cao features a beautiful antique finish and double purfling that is accompanied by a unique inlaid ornamentation on the back. Old-world elegance in both design and execution are accentuated by a warm, well-balanced tone.
Hand-carved from European tone-woods. Spruce top of medium grain. Double purfling. Two-piece maple back, nicely flamed. Double purfled artistic inlay design on back. Ribs and scroll plain. Finished in an oil varnish of a golden brown color on a golden ground and antiqued in the style of the original violin. Outfit includes #430/430V Regency case (Blue, Burgundy), rosin, and your choice of bow. Made in China.
