Train to Glory for String Orchestra (Grade 2)

Take a ride on the underground railroad with these three traditional spirituals from the rails. This piece gives everyone a chance to play melodic material as well as providing interesting harmonic material in this rhythmic workout in G major. Cellists will venture into second position; upper strings stay in first. The piece starts with dissonant driving double stops that imitate a train whistle and other rhythmic train-like figures make the transitions between tunes.
