Born in 1874, Leon Mougenot learned the trade from Emile Laurent and Georges Mougenot. He also worked for some of the greatest French makers of his time, including Leon Bernadel, Joseph Hill, Paul Jombar, and the Hill brothers in London. During his professional life, he trained or collaborated with over 75 makers, including Paul Bisch, Carlo and Leandro Bisiach, and Max Millant. His instruments are modeled after Stradivari, Guarneri, Vuillaume, and Lupot and are appreciated for their fine workmanship and sonorous, clear tone.
- Violin Information: Violin made in 1925 by Mougenot's workshop. Two piece spruce top of medium grain widening to the edge. Two piece maple back of faint, narrow slightly ascending flames. Similar ribs and headstock. Antiqued varnish of a yellow-brown color. LOB 358 mm.
