Cello Sizing
This approach may be used to determine the correct size of cello that best fits:
- Sit at the edge of a chair so that the feet are flat on the floor and the
knees are bent at a ninety-degree angle. Small children may need an
adjustable chair or bench in order to obtain this position.
- The endpin should be adjusted so that the upper rim of the cello rests
against the middle of the chest at the sternum (breast bone). Both knees
should contact the curve below the bottom corner of the C bout. The C
string peg should be near the left ear and the neck should be positioned
a few inches away from the shoulder.
- The left hand should be able to reach the full length of the fingerboard.
