The studies have been arranged in an order taking into account tonality, grade of difficulty and style. The majority of the studies chosen come from the Wohlfahrt Foundation Studies for the Viola. In addition, an effort was made to provide a consistent sytem of fingerings and bowings. Each part of the book is organized around an individual scale and arpeggio. This is an attempt to help the student become solid in the specific tonality. Each key includes duets for the student and teacher. Some pieces are included at the end of the book which utilize the techniques taught throughout this volume.
