The Scott Cao "Guadagnini" is based on a violin from 1751 by Giovanni Baptista Guadagnini during his "Parma" period. He was the instrument maker to the Duke of Parma and was a very prolific maker. The Scott Cao "Guadagnini" violin is meticulously carved by experienced luthiers under the strict supervision of Scott Cao. Hand-carved from quality tone-woods. Spruce top of tight grain. Two-piece maple back of relatively, narrow flame. Ribs and scroll of lesser flame. Scroll with a black chamfer.
