These violin solos on traditional hymn tunes were written to give the intermediate violinist new and appealing repertoire that will contribute to church services throughout the year. These hymns will add variety and life to worship celebrations. Twelve hymn tunes are included in medleys or solos arrangements. Piano accompaniment is included.

Of the Father's Love Begotten for Piano and Strings
as a special meditative prelude during the Christmas season, this
arrangement of the ancient chant tune opens with a transparent texture
that climaxes with "leggiero" passage work in the strings before ending
calmly and sparsely. All parts are of moderate difficulty, presenting a
wonderful opportunity to feature your pianist, and the string parts are
equally effective when performed by a quintet, one on a part. Includes score and parts (one per instrument).
These three preludes retain the primitive, open harmonies of early American hymnody. The first is a quiet, worshipful introit; the second, a somber depiction of Christ's sacrifice; and the last prelude imitates the joyous strumming of banjos and energy of fiddles. Includes parts for violin, piano, and cello.
Spirituals for Violin. Arranged for violin and piano by Jacqueline Hairston.
