Student Concerto in D major, Op. 22 for Violin and Piano
Bärenreiter's Concert Pieces offer young string players a broad range of music suitable for lessons and recitals; from easy pieces for children to more demanding works for the advanced student.
The series is edited by Kurt Sassmannshaus, the internationally-renowned violin teacher and co-author of the Sassmannshaus violin school tradition. Each piece includes a preface that includes tips for successful first concerts. These editions form an ideal continuation of the Sassmannshaus violin school tradition and can be used in parallel from the third volume onwards or alongside any violin method.
This concerto starts with a resolute allegro in G minor, followed by a
gentle adagio in E-flat major and flows into a cheerful dance-like final
movement in G major. In order to play this, violinists must be able to
master 1st to 3rd positions.
A concise foreword by the renowned
string pedagogue Kurt Sassmannshaus introduces the work and points out
the relevant playing techniques required.
The series "Bärenreiter's Concert Pieces" forms an ideal continuation of the Sassmannshaus string methods, but can also be used to supplement any other string tutor.
